The Generals name is rich in tradition, being formed as a Junior program over eleven years ago by Andy Richards. Andy was a pioneer in Youth Ice Hockey in the Delaware Valley since 1975. Andy was one of the first Presidents of the Glaciers and the founding Coach of Central Bucks East Hockey. Andy is also founder of the Junior Continental Hockey Association. The Generals Junior program is no more so Andy Richards and Wayne Evans, who coached the the Generals, has brought the Generals name back in an In-House Limited Travel format to start a new tradition of developing hockey players.
1st Year
From the beginning of the inaugural year of this new level of Generals there was great excitement. This year proved to be a successful one as well. In it's 1st year the Generals consisted of 3 Mite, 2 Squirt, 2 Pee Wee, 1 Bantam teams. From this came a Squirt and Pee Wee Select team where the Squirt Selects won the District Championship. The Generals also sponsored two successful In-House tournaments (President's Cup in Feb and General's Cup in late March)
Other rink's made mention that the Generals were the next level of In-House and were looking into emulating the Generals program. The Generals have grown in their 1st spring/summer season as well. 2 Mite, 2 Squirt, 3 Pee Wee, 3 Bantam and 1 Middle School Team.
2nd Year
Another successful season for the Generals. This year the Generals consisted of 11 regular teams (3 Mite, 2 Squirt, 3 Pee Wee, 2 Bantams and a Midget) plus 3 Select teams (Mites, Squirt and Pee Wee). Our Squirt Selects came in 2nd place in the District Championship and our Pee Wee Selects won the District Championship. Our Mite Selects came in 2nd place in their end of year tournament against full travel teams. Due to the success of the Select program the coaches and players from those teams have move on to the Glacier Travel program.
3rd Year
This year the Generals consisted of 10 regular teams (1 Atom, 2 Mite, 2 Squirt, 2 Pee Wee, 2 Bantams and a Midget) plus 4 Select teams (Mites, Squirt, Pee Wee and Bantam). Unfortunately the Atlantic District did not have a Championship tournament this year. Our Atom team won 1st place in the Lawrenceville Jamboree, In travel B tournaments Our Mite Selects came in 1st place in their end of year tournament, our Squirt Selects and Bantam Selects were Champions and our Pee Wee Selects were runner ups in the Hatfield Winter and the Generals end of season tournaments,
The Generals program is projected to have 1 to 2 teams at the Atoms level, 3 to 4 teams at the Mite, Squirt and Pee Wee levels, and 1 to 2 Bantam and Midget level teams this upcoming Fall/Winter season.
============================================================================
The Generals program is an upgrade to Face Off Circle's In House Program. These teams will be playing a "Limited Travel" schedule playing other rinks clubs that are Independent and in the Delaware Valley Hockey League (DVHL).
The mission of the Generals is to provide a place for children of all talent levels (Atoms to Midgets) to play ice hockey and do not want the rigors, cost and extensive travel associated with travel hockey , but who would enjoy the organization and competition provided by playing the "Limited Travel" Division teams in the DVHL. These Generals teams will be limited by geographic area as to keep the away games relatively close (within one hour drive).
The Generals will be open to experienced players and to those with limited ice hockey experience. It will also be open to High School players at the Varsity, Junior Varsity and Middle School levels who would like to supplement their High School hockey with a limited travel program. Players that are registered or are going to register with a Full Travel DVHL Club like the Glaciers teams may NOT play for the Generals. This is a DVHL Rule. The Generals will be fielding more then one team at each age level. These teams will be divided equally by talent and experience.
The Generals will be managed by Wayne Evans, a Master Certified USA Hockey Coach and Director of Hockey for Face Off Circle and Ace Coordinator for the Glaciers Travel Hockey Club.
Applications will be available at the Rink by June 1st or you can register on line now. Everyone involved with the Generals pledges that our participants will learn from the best available coaches, enjoy great competition and that our PLAYERS and their PARENTS will have FUN. Some of the coaches for this upcoming year include: Tom Forte, Keith Glushek, Rich Arnone, Todd Formann, Jeff Borden, Ken Stear, Erich Rayher, Mitch Takashima, Anthony Anzideo, Jason Schutz, Frank Carter, Paul Lagacey, Rich Palmer, Lee Bergman, Steve Costello, Jeff Moffat, Ed Kain, Rudy Buchwald, Vince Rosica, Sal Palatucci, Andy Zemzik. Additional coaches are now being interviewed. Anyone else interested in coaching should contact Wayne Evans on line or at the Rink (215-674-1345) or download and fill out coaching application and forward it to Wayne Evans.
Sincerely,
The GENERALS STAFF
